  • A new book chronicling the history of Daft Punk is coming in 2023. After Daft, by Resident Advisor contributor Gabriel Szatan, will be the first book to span Daft Punk's full career—from their formation in 1993 to announcing their split this year. The book will offer a definitive history of the duo, featuring interviews with people that worked with, collaborated with and were impacted by Daft Punk over the years. It will seek to position Daft Punk as generational icons within the fabric of live, pop and electronic music culture over the last three decades. "Daft Punk sit in the pantheon of pop alongside Prince, Talking Heads, Kate Bush, Stevie Wonder, Kraftwerk, Missy Elliott, David Bowie or any visionary you'd care to name," says Szatan. "Beyond making joyous records, there are countless compelling sub-narratives which flow in and out of their career… I'm excited to bring it all to light—as well as making the case for how, over 28 years, music really did sound better with them." Following a multi-publisher bid for the book, After Daft will be released by John Murray Press/Hachette UK in 2023.
