  • Out now via Velocity Press, Out Of Space | How UK Cities Shaped Rave Culture is a deep dive into UK clubbing and its regional histories. "Out Of Space is a mixture of personal stories and interviews with those who have helped breathe life into life after dark across the UK," writes the book's author Jim Ottewill. "It's an attempt to unpick the relationship between space and club sound, how that has evolved and why it's important." Over 300 pages, Ottewill—who has also contributed to RA—dissects UK club culture, its most influential movements and the challenges it faces, focusing on hubs such as Glasgow, Manchester, Sheffield and London, as well as lesser known "dance music Meccas such as Coalville and Todmorden." In interviews with Norman Jay, Bill Brewster, Slam, DJ Storm, DJ Paulette, Chris Liberator, Geeneus, Josey Rebelle, Ashley Beedle and many more, Ottewill asks: "What does the future of our nightclubs look like? And where will they be? Will club culture still exist for future generations?" Out Of Space is out on Velocity Press now, and will be available from other book shops and retailers from July.
