  • Tristan Arp is the latest signing to Facta and K-Lone's Wisdom Teeth label. The Mexico City-based artist will release his second full-length, Sculpturegardening, through the label, on which he used modular synths to create probabilistic melodies, stepping into the role of "sculptor or curator," reads the press release. "With Sculpturegardening, my concept was to approach music like gardening. I collaborated with machines inspired by the way a gardener collaborates with the earth," says Tristan Arp. "A gardener creates the conditions for the plants to come to life and develop on their own. In a similar way, I created a set of conditions and probabilities for the music to make itself." Per the theme, the lines between "organic and digital are blurred," with synths played by guitars, digital percussion played by hand and live cello treated digitally. The end results incorporate elements of ambient, glitch, microhouse and downtempo. In conjunction with the release, Tristan Arp will launch a sound installation in Mexico City called Nada Se Pierde; Todo Se Transforma. The show, which opens on October 9th at Avant.dev, includes a four-channel sound installation that reacts to visitors' positions within the garden, as well as sculptures by Pablo Arellano. Listen to Sculpturegardening track "From The Seams."
