  • Berlin club Revier Südost will not open this weekend in order to "fully concentrate on assessing and solving" allegations of racism, homophobia and aggressive behaviour levelled at members of its staff. The club explained the decision in a statement via social media. "We hope to reopen our club soon, but please understand we might need a bit of time," it reads. The decision follows a recent wave of allegations from partygoers, sparked by a post earlier this week from ballet dancer and activist Nicholas Rose. In the post, Rose accuses bouncers at last Sunday's SYNOID party of being racist, homophobic and unnecessarily aggressive. They called the incident a "vicious personal attack." "I will not tolerate any racism, homophobia, or hyper-masculine energy and you shouldn't either!," Rose posted. "The pain I feel is real. I won't give up and will continue to stand up for people like me in BERLIN and BEYOND. You better believe it!"
The comments below Rose's Instagram post include people detailing similar incidents at Revier Südost, which is run by the team behind former Neukölln venue Griessmuehle. Resident Advisor has spoken to some of these people and will be reporting their accounts in more detail next week. Several artists have already dropped out of upcoming events at Revier Südost, including Zine Fair Berlin and the Dutch DJ Marron. Read Revier Südost's statement in full.
