  • New York label Air Texture has revealed the next edition of Place :. Place : is a compilation series that focuses on electronic music from a specific region, with sale proceeds donated to a cause working in the area. This latest instalment is dedicated to Nairobi, and was created in collaboration with KMRU. Place : Nairobi raises money for The Green Belt Movement (GBM), an environmental organisation covering conservation, democracy, community empowerment and conflict resolution. GBM aims to empower communities, especially women, to help improve their livelihoods and protect the environment around them. Speaking of the 14-track compilation, KMRU says: "Nairobi's electronic music scene is quite eclectic, featuring diverse styles of music genres together creating personal narratives by the artists, musicians and producers. This curation features a glimpse of the different styles of music coming out of Nairobi electronic music scene… The curation focuses on burgeoning artists exploring different sonic auralities in music production." Place : Nairobi features tracks from artists including KMRU, [MONRHEA], Janice Iche, Nabalayo, Kimina and Munyasya. Previous Place : compilations have celebrated music from Georgia, Colombia, The Netherlands, Vancouver and Ecuador. Listen to 7headc0's "Justfiu."
