  • The Museum Of Modern Electronic Music (MOMEM) will open in Frankfurt on April 6th, 2022. Titled "Sven Väth—It's Simple To Tell What Saved Us From Hell," the launch show will explore the techno DJ's private archive of art, records, photographs, flyers, films and sounds. It was curated with help from Väth's close friend, the sculptor Tobias Rehberger. "There is no better opening exhibition for MOMEM," said museum director Alex Azary. "Because Sven Väth and Tobias Rehberger have each, in their own way, taken electronic music culture from Frankfurt to the world." Looking further ahead, MOMEM will pay homage to both the history and future of electronic music. Across multiple rooms, there will be interactive and immersive exhibits, highlighting key artists and artworks, including iconic flyers and logos. The idea for MOMEM came from Andreas Tomalla (AKA Talla 2XLC), who founded Technoclub, a weekly techno party in Frankfurt that ran from 1984 through 2000. Azary, a fellow producer, DJ and cultural advocate for Frankfurt, joined the team at Technoclub in 1987. The launch of MOMEM has been a long time coming, with the project first announced back in 2015. The delays were caused by issues with funding and a lengthy search for the right location.
