  • In a recent conversation with the UK opposition Labour Party, Raji Rags highlighted the urgency of drug testing in nightlife spaces. The online discussion, held in March, was brought to light this week after the London-based DJ, whose real name is Raj Chaudhuri, posted snippets on his Instagram page. Speaking with Labour Party leader Keir Starmer and MP Jeff Smith, Chaudhuri explained how accessible testing sites at venues and festivals around the UK are critical to harm reduction. "We need a proper grown-up conversation about drug policy that focuses on reducing harm and saving lines rather than criminalising people," said Smith, who is also co-Chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Drug Policy Reform, in response. Starmer, meanwhile, indicated the issue would be raised in parliament. The discussion comes amid rising attention on safe clubbing practices now that parties are back around the UK and European Union. Just this week, a 21-year-old passed away while two individuals were hospitalised following suspected overdoses at London venue The Cause.
