  • Heim is a new two-story venue with a courtyard and a terrace in the centre of Shanghai. Located in the city's Huangpu district, it's equipped with an Element 5 soundsystem and aims to be a refuge for the city's electronic community. Rooted in techno and house, the club will also feature other styles of club music as it seeks to form relationships with crews around China and beyond. Following a two-night soft launch last month that saw local artists such as Knopha, Cora, HAO and Shy Beef play, Heim will officially open this weekend. For its opening party, a four-night affair from July 21st to July 24th, Anh Phi, HAO, Tom Yeti and Michael Cignarale, among others, are slated to perform. The event is called Spiritual Tuina, named after a type of massage practised by traditional Chinese medicine therapists. "When a DJ uses music to massage the senses and body of ravers, is it not a similar utilisation of medicinal therapy?" Heim said in a press release. Going forward, the club said that it hopes to book artists such as Mama Snake, KI/KI, Identified Patient, Paquita Gordon and DJ Dustin "in the not-so-distant future." Check out the club's rooftop and terrace space below.
