  • American producer Napolian, real name Ian Evans, has died. Reports of Napolian's death started surfacing last night on social media, and have since been confirmed by Pitchfork. Artists like Oneohtrix Point Never, Joel Ford, Jacques Greene, Huerco S and Low Limit paid tribute to the late artist. Evans, whose music touched on everything from hip-hop to vaporwave, released albums on labels like Oneohtrix's Software, Cascine and Beer On The Rug, and was probably best known for his 2014 LP Incursio. In addition to his solo work, he has produced for Kelela, A$AP Ferg and Yves Tumor, and according to several tribute posts online, helped out with many more records behind the scenes than he's often given credit for. "I don't know how to qualify what a talent and sweet person Ian was," Oneohtrix Point Never, real name Daniel Lopatin, wrote on Instagram. "He loved electronic music deeply, and we always talked about how it was a spiritual thing. He felt all the details. We spent years just sending images and sounds back and forth and didn't have to explain why, everything made sense."
