  • Le Baron Shanghai, a pillar of nightlife in the Chinese city since 2014, will throw its last dance on June 26th. In a statement posted on social media earlier this month, venue founder and managing partner Cody Allen said the team has "done everything we could possibly hope to do and more with this club, in this space," adding that "it is time to wrap up the show." "All good things come to an end, and for this first chapter of Le Baron in China, this is the end," he continued. An outpost of the Parisian club Le Baron, the Shanghai venue has hosted the likes of Jarreau Vandal, DJ Spinna, Hudson Mohawke and Virgil Abloh among others.
According to Time Out Shanghai, the team behind Le Baron Shanghai are launching a new venue in the city. GRND CNTRL, located in the Xintiandi neighbourhood, is scheduled to open this summer. It "will share some of the same DNA [as Le Baron], but it will be a quite different concept," Allen told Time Out. Follow GRND CNTRL's website for updates.
