  • Waajeed is hosting a takeover on NTS Radio to mark Juneteenth and raise funds for Detroit's Underground Music Academy. The UMA Fundraiser Takeover kicks off tomorrow, June 19th, at 9 AM EST (2 PM BST) and will include sets from Ash Lauryn, Honey Dijon, Kenny Larkin, Floorplan, Lakuti and Theo Parrish. Wajeed and "Mad" Mike Banks founded UMA to help nurture the Motor City's next generation of underground artists. The academy is a stone's throw from Underground Resistance HQ and sits on the same street as Moodymann's Mahogani Music studio and the original Motown recording studio. "Our goal is to provide accessible and affordable music education to residents of Detroit, and the world," Waajeed said. "We feel a great need to build a more inclusive electronic music community. Music will be the means for education, healing and building esteem." In other Juneteenth news, Bandcamp has announced a second annual fundraiser for the NAACP Legal Defense Fund and Dweller Festival will be hosting its third edition over the weekend in New York.
