  • Nightlife in Spain can reopen on a regional basis following a vote held by the Interterritorial Health Council on Wednesday, June 2nd. According to Euronews, clubs in regions with a 14-day Covid-19 infection rate of 50 cases per 100,000 or lower will now be allowed to remain open till 3 AM, but with some restrictions: indoor areas will operate at 50 percent capacity and revellers must wear masks and limit their groups to six. It's not clear if dancing will be allowed. The new measures are now legally binding and will remain in place until 70 percent of the Spanish population and all over-50s have been vaccinated, around mid-August. "A gradual and progressive return to normality is needed. Lessons must be learned," Spain's health minister, Carolina Darias, said. As of Wednesday, June 3rd, the Balearic Islands had a 14-day infection rate of 39.26 cases per 100,000 and 554 active Covid-19 cases. Ibiza had 96. On Tuesday, June 1st, the Balearic government and the Ibiza Leisure Association agreed to pilot a 2,000 capacity event on either June 25th or July 2nd. The Association's manager, José Luis Benítez, has said that the party will be limited to essential workers.
