Scotland's first conference dedicated to hip-hop, HANG, is arriving this summer.
HANG (Hip-Hop Aimed Networking With Grime) is scheduled to take place in-person at Glasgow's SWG3 on July 31st. Free for guests of all ages, the event is organized by the Scottish Alternative Music Awards, or SAMA.
The one-day gathering features speakers such as BBC Radio 1Xtra's Rap Show host Tiffany Calver, Edinburgh rapper Nova and musician Darren McGarvey. Live performances and workshops on spoken word, breakdancing, DJing and graffiti are also on tap, in addition to panel discussions on career-related topics such as monetizing music.
"Hip-hop and grime is such a huge and growing genre within the Scottish music scene," Richy Muirhead, SAMA producer said in a statement. "With HANG, our ambition is to empower artists and those working in music offering expert music panels featuring key members of the industry, and providing new networking opportunities.
Registration to attend opens next month. At that time, Scottish artists can also submit their music for a chance to perform.
