Listen to a new mix from Dutch techno DJ Invite, the last-ever in his decade-long series.
Tim van Paradijs has been running the Invite's Choice mix series since May 8th 2011, when he mixed the first episode himself. After ten years of weekly uploads, van Paradijs now brings things full circle with a final mix of his own.
"The main reason why I decided to stop is because I have achieved the main goal I set myself," Invite told Resident Advisor, "which was serving as a platform to publish mixes on a weekly basis from unknown to very well known artists and everything in between. There are so many great artists who do not get their well deserved spotlight. I am happy I could give well over 500 artists at least one contribution, and thus providing them my platform."
Invite's idea for the final mix, the 644th, was "to play records that I played a lot in the past two decades and to just have fun playing vinyl. I tried my best to create the 'club vibe', so the same way I would play them in a club."
He mentions Par Grindvik's electro contribution (episode 036), Deepchord (episode 069), Steve Rachmad's '80s new wave mix (episode 087), DVS1's set recorded at Berghain (episode 100) and John Beltran (episode 129) as some of his favourites.
Invite says he will now go back to concentrating on making music, everything from "techno, electronica and AV stuff to ambient."
