- The ten-track LP is out in June.
Gilbert Cohen, AKA Gilb'R, will release his debut album, Danse Comme Des Fous, on his Versatile Records on June 7th.
While this is the first full-length from the Frenchman's Gilb'R alias, this fact belies his long history in leftfield dance music as one half of Château Flight and the force behind the 26-year-old Versatile imprint. The new album, whose title translates to "Let's Dance Like Crazies," looks back to Cohen's '90s days as a DJ and music programmer at the famed Radio Nova.
"Gilb'R does not have time for the new codes of hipster ambient," reads the press release. "Instead, he leads us back to the '90s riding some smokey radio waves (the album has its roots in his Radio Nova years), preferring immature psychedelism to prefabricated revival."
Danse Comme Des Fous was recorded in Cohen's studio in Amsterdam, where he's been living for the last six years. Cohen collaborated with Ariel Kalma on an album in 2020. Earlier this year, Versatile released another collaborative LP, Jours de Grève, from Emmanuelle Parrenin and Detlef Weinrich (Tolouse Low Trax).
