East London DJ and broadcaster Ifeoluwa is launching a "digital archive for underground dance / experimental music."
Ifeoluwa, who is currently studying for a PhD in archival history, decided to combine her music and journalism skills for the project.
"I'm always consuming so much music, but I'm aware that I'm not actually preserving it," she told Resident Advisor. "We've passed ten years of dubstep and that got me thinking that we really need to try and have a digital archive that everyone can access all around the world."
The DJ hopes the archive will attract submissions from all corners of the globe and is especially keen to hear from Black creatives.
"I'm also hoping that the kind of conversations we've been having since last summer, about who is prioritised in music journalism, will have moved on, because we will be more aware of the history of dance music, of what has led us here," she said.
Ifeoluwa also runs Intervention, which provides spaces for womxn, non-binary, queer and people of colour to learn DJing and production skills for free.
