- Return To Solaris is out June 25th on Phantom Limb.
Kevin Richard Martin continues a prolific run of ambient releases with an interpretation of the score for Andrei Tarkovsky's 1972 movie, Solaris.
With his debut soundtrack, Martin (AKA The Bug) aimed to faithfully build on Eduard Artemyev's original score, adding his dense, ambient sound to this classic of sci-fi and Soviet cinema. The resulting nine-track album will be released via UK label Phantom Limb on June 25th.
Return To Solaris initially stemmed from a one-off performance Martin gave at the Vooruit Arts Centre in Ghent last May. He was invited to score a film and Solaris was the "natural choice." Having completed the album, the newly scored film was screened twice at the same venue in October.
