Club producer TT The Artist has a new documentary out on Netflix, Dark City Beneath the Beat.
The film concentrates on the city of Baltimore and its world-famous club scene. In the span of an hour, the feature presents poetry, musical performances and a handful of interviews with the city's locals, dancers and producers, during which Baltimore's socioeconomic issues are a dominant focus. Dark City Beneath the Beat marks TT The Artist's directorial debut, and was originally premiered at 2020 SXSW Festival. The film was produced by Issa Rae and Deniese Davis of HBO television series Insecure.
The 18-track various artists compilation that soundtracks the documentary is also out now, involving club heads like UNiiQU3, Mighty Mark, Kariz Marcel, TT The Artist herself and more.
