- Sound Arts Now aims to shift the focus away from "white men from the global north."
A new book of 20 interviews profiles newer, more diverse voices in sound art and field recording.
Sound Arts Now, a 240-page exploration of contemporary sound art practice and theory, is out now through Uniformbooks. It focuses on profiling a wide range of artists in this field, and includes Maria Chavez, Elsa M’bala (pictured), Jau-Lan Guo, Evan Ifekoya, Lawrence Abu Hamdan, Mikel R. Nieto and Budhaditya Chattopadhyay.
The writers Cathy Lane and Angus Carlyle have been working together in sound art since 1998, establishing a research centre at the University Of The Arts, London, and writing numerous works on sound, listening and their applications within society.
