  • Early house DJ and producer Elbee Bad, real name Lamont Booker, has died. Booker was found in his bed in Berlin on Wednesday, June 2nd, by his flatmate, the rapper INFIDELIX. (Several publications, including Resident Advisor, incorrectly reported on Booker's death back in March, when in fact he was just retiring an alias.) Known as "The Prince Of Dance Music," Booker grew up in the Bronx and Long Island, cutting his teeth as a drummer and putting out early house records on labels such as Bassment, Nu Groove and Red Heat. In 1993, he relocated to Berlin following an invite from Hard Wax to DJ at Planet. He collaborated with Basic Channel, among other artists, and in 2012, Rush Hour released The True Story Of House Music, a retrospective of his work. Booker also ran a label, LaRhon Records. Read some tributes and listen to "The New Age House."
