  • Parisian producer and film composer Para One has announced his first full-length work since 2014. Due on May 21st via French label Animal63, Machines of Loving Grace consists of 11 tracks inspired by Japanese anime soundtracks, Bulgarian folk, Indonesia's gamelan music, Steve Reich and Detroit techno. In a press statement, Para One, whose real name is Jean-Baptiste de Laubier, explained the reason behind his long hiatus: "I needed to break away from patterns and systematisms of formats, and take unexpected turns. To do so, I had first to allow myself to do so." The LP is accompanied by a string of separate EP releases featuring remixes by Actress, Call Super, Ricardo Villalobos and Hot Chip. Actress' offering is slated for March 24th, Villalobos' version is scheduled for April 21st and the others arrive in June. Machines Of Loving Grace is the first part of a trilogy called Spectre. The series kicks off with the album release, followed by Para One's first full-length film Sanity, Madness & the Family, then a live show based on the LP. This three-part project has reportedly been seven years in the making.
