Kaytranada, Thundercat and Hildur Guðnadóttir take top honors at 2021 Grammys

  • The 63rd Annual Grammy Awards are underway at the Los Angeles Convention Center. Trevor Noah is hosting the awards, which will include live and pre-recorded performances from the likes of Taylor Swift, Dua Lipa, Bad Bunny and Megan Thee Stallion. There is no audience at the awards, which are currently airing, though a live red carpet event gestured towards normalcy. Many winners have already been announced. Kaytranada swept the Dance/Electronic Music categories, winning the Best Dance Recording award for "10%," featuring Kali Uchis, as well as Best Dest/Electronic Album for Bubba, beating out Arca's Kick I. Thundercat's It Is What It Is won for Best Progressive R&B Album. Flying Lotus was also nominated in the producer category for his work on the 2020 LP. The Icelandic artist Hildur Gudnadottir continued a remarkable winning streak, taking home top honors for Best Score Soundtrack For Visual Media for her Joker score. That soundtrack also won at the Golden Globes and Oscars, while her Chernobyl score won awards including an Emmy and a previous Grammy.
