  • A new LP from the late, legendary Tony Allen, There Is No End, features an all-star cast of vocalists including Damon Albarn, Skepta, Sampa The Great, Danny Brown, Zelooperz and Koreatown Oddity. Due on April 30th via Decca Records France, the project was motivated by Allen's desire to work with a new generation of rappers. "Tony's idea was to give rappers the space to breathe and freely create," producer Vincent Taeger said. "He wanted really not to just do Afrobeat, but rather something new and open, with very different sounds for the drums for each song and feels and tempos that were really grounded to the core in hip-hop." Allen, who composed the beats with MCs in mind, passed away before most of the artists recorded their vocals. Only one song, "Cosmosis," was recorded live. It features Skepta, Nigerian poet Ben Okri and Damon Albarn, who said that "recording 'Cosmosis' was the last time I hung out with Tony" and that "a fantastic night was had by all.” Listen to "Cosmosis."
