- The New Yorker confirmed the news on the airwaves last night.
Tim Sweeney is pausing his long-running Beats In Space show.
"21 years! Thank you all for listening," the New Yorker said live on WNYU-FM last night. "It's not the end, though. Just a break." The last song was a version of "Going Places" by Kid Creole & The Coconuts.
Launched in 1999, Beats In Space became one of the scene's most popular radio broadcasts/podcasts, beloved for its guest mixes (and accompanying polaroids) and calls from a disgruntled listener known as Victor From Washington Heights.
