  • Loraine James is releasing her second album on Hyperdub. Reflection, which arrives June 4th, is billed as an expression of James's lockdown experience. Its 11 tracks span R&B, UK drill, techno and more, with collaborations from the likes of Le3 bLACK, Xavier Stone and Nova. The lead single, "Simple Stuff," features auto-tuned vocals with lyrics that echo a desire for James to be treated equally as a Black and queer woman. "The words for 'Simple Stuff' came very spontaneously but also reflect my immediate and current thoughts," she said. James, who runs a monthly show on NTS Radio, last put out a full-length, For You And I, in 2019. Since then, she's released several tracks and remixes, including one for Cuushe earlier this year. Listen to "Simple Stuff."
