Online media and music platform Home Of Sound has announced a new round of masterclasses.
Several subjects are available. The new Mixing And Mastering series begins March 25th with a free session from Burden, followed by a class with Dadub on May 5th. VSK will run Sound Design sessions on April 12th, April 26th and May 13th. Also in April, Triangle Agency's Katty Lange will lead a business masterclass.
In May, a series of women-led production classes will offer discounted prices for women, non-binary and gender-fluid artists, while Flipping The Odds, a programme for producers and creators experiencing financial hardship, will allow access to selected masterclasses free of charge.
Home Of Sound began in late 2019 as a bi-weekly podcast series with the occasional live panel. But the platform was transformed by the pandemic when social distancing rules made physical gatherings impossible.
"It was tough to stay motivated," founder Alessandro Boni told Resident Advisor. "This is actually why we started the masterclasses, we wanted to get back together with other music producers—even if just virtually."
Boni, one half of Tapefeed, and cofounders Flaminia and Joseph Bianchi (AKA End Train) decided to move the community online, scheduling regular masterclasses and bringing in financial revenue for artists. Since launching last July, the platform has held 24 sessions with more than 1,000 attendees from over 20 countries. Past tutors include Ansome, Phase Fatale and Insolate.
"Between the masterclasses and the live interviews, we somehow were able to find a sense of purpose in these dark times," Boni added. "It feels that we are moving in the right direction."
