  • Floyd Lavine, cofounder of Berlin Afro house party and collective RISE, is starting a label called Afrikan Tales. "My vision for the label is to tell our own story, create our own narrative and explore our own creativity without limitations," says Lavine, who was born in Cape Town and now lives in Berlin. The first release is Story Tellers, a four-track EP by Lavine featuring Lore Vain, Elias and Liam Mockbridge. In addition to the label, Afrikan Tales will encompass a website and podcast, both of which will launch later in 2021. "We'll be sharing African tales, alongside accounts of various people who have been inspired by the African sound and its stories, as well as the continent itself, such as the beauty of the land," Lavine adds. "I believe everyone has a unique story and this platform will be a way to take ownership of this narrative." Lavine cofounded RISE in 2015. The party has hosted events at Watergate and across Europe. In 2017, the crew started a label, RISE Music. Listen to
