  • The 2021 edition of Sónar has been postponed. It's the second year in a row the Spanish promoter has been forced to cancel due to the pandemic. Sónar was supposed to run its 27th edition from the 17th to the 19th of June, but has been rescheduled to run from June 15th to 18th in 2022. However, Sónar plans to hold two new in-person festivals in Barcelona on the 27th and 30th of October this year. The first AI and Music Festival will explore the rising role of artificial intelligence in music production while SónarCCCB will comprise live performances along with talks and demos from the Sónar+D program. Both will combine in-person and online events. Sónar Istanbul is also scheduled to run its 5th edition on October 2nd. Earlier this year, fellow Barcelona giant Primavera Sound also pulled the plug on its 2021 edition.
