  • Two controlled-environment events took place in Amsterdam last weekend to see whether large groups would respect social distancing measures during the pandemic, Euronews reports. Fieldlab Events, an initiative set up by the government and the events industry, held its pilot parties last Saturday and Sunday at Ziggo Dome. 1300 people were split into five groups, which were each placed under different rules and controls. Some had to wear masks, while others were prompted to shout and cheer as much as they could. Everyone was electronically tagged to monitor their contact with others. All the participants had to show a negative Covid-19 test 48 hours before the event, and will have to take another in the five days after. The tickets for last weekend's trials sold out with one hour of going on sale. Fieldlab, which has further research events planned, are still analysing the data and findings from last weekend.
