  • Closed Melbourne club XE54 will be taking over Saturday nights at CBD venue The Bottom End from March. Originally shutting the doors of its four-room Southbank space back in early 2020, the team behind the club will launch XE 2.0 at The Bottom End, the long-running, multi-level Little Collins St location which operates with a 24-hour license. The venue will be given a sound system upgrade and decked out with neon strip lighting similar to what was installed at the original XE54. Three rooms will be used—a main room focusing on house and techno, another centring on disco, and DJs playing in the diner. There are plans to utilise more of the space as Covid restrictions ease. In terms of bookings, XE54's Monty McGaw explains "We will placing our focus on Australian artists in the opening months, many of whom we are lucky to have home from their international touring circuit due to the current climate." Lineup details for the March 6th launch are expected in the coming days.
