  • A new online festival is launching in Japan this weekend. Running from February 19th through 21st, Muso Culture Festival will take place in a digital reproduction of Daichuji Temple, a Zen Buddhist landmark near Mt. Fuji that was founded in 1313. Pre-recorded performances from DJ Krush and producer/songwriter ermhoi are on the agenda, in addition to a sound installation by Yosi Horikawa, who's known for his diverse collection of field recordings. Also on tap are live broadcasts of Zen meditation sessions as well as art installations by Saki Souda and Natsumi Sato. Users will be able to move around the digitalised temple thanks to 3D space capture technology. Zen-themed DJ mixes from Kaoru Inoue, Chee Shimizu and Elli Arakawa, among others, will also be available. Muso Culture Festival was originally meant to be an in-person event at Daichuji Temple but programming was forced to move online due to the pandemic. Watch a teaser for the festival.
