  • London-based DJ and broadcaster Melvo Baptiste is starting a label called The Remedy Project. Forming part of the Defected Records group, the outlet will launch on March 12th with a single by Atlanta singer-songwriter Hadiya George, who last year collaborated with Honey Dijon. Hot Flavor will feature the original backed by remixes from Kaidi Tatham and Nick Godmode. Baptiste, whose uncle is the legendary UK DJ Norman Jay MBE, has been the voice of Defected's Glitterbox Radio since 2017. He has also worked as an A&R for the label. "I have spent a decade promoting new music via various different radio shows, always wishing I could do more for artists to help further their career in music," says Baptiste. "I can now offer to these guys a platform and showcase the abundance of amazing music that's out there." The Remedy Project is the latest label launched under the Defected banner. Earlier this month, Sondela, the new Afro-house outlet from Sef Kombo and Louie Dunmore, released its first record. Listen to a mix Baptiste put together for The Remedy Project. (Godmode's remix of "Hot Flavor" appears around the 16:20 mark.)
