  • Lawrence's new album, Birds On The Playground, is due out on Mule Musiq on March 26th. For the forthcoming full-length—his fourth for Mule—Peter Kersten drew inspiration from Studio Mule, the audiophile bar Mule head Toshiya Kawasaki recently opened in Tokyo. "Toshiya's wine and listening bar was the inspiration for the project," Kersten said. "I followed the idea of listening to music in this (for me imaginary) place on a magic vintage sound system, slightly drunk with an always special drink in my hand! The music is therefore also very eccentric and 'tipsy,' improvised on acoustic instruments, synthesizers and computer, combined with recordings I did in Berlin's Central Tiergarten Park." In keeping with the tight-knit, conceptual nature of the project, Mule affiliate Kuniyuki mastered the nine-track album, with Stefan Marx lending his signature touch to the artwork.
