Jimmy Cauty and Bill Drummond, who previously made music as The KLF, released a "new" album today called Come Down Dawn.
The UK duo (who now go by The Justified Ancients Of Mu Mu) described the LP on their website as a "pre-mix" of The KLF's classic 1990 album, Chill Out. Available on streaming platforms, Come Down Dawn consists of 12 tracks and is essentially a reworking of Chill Out without some of the more obvious samples, such as the Elvis Presley song that appears throughout the original LP.
Come Down Dawn follows a journey from New York to Mexico City and features a number of samples, including "Evil Graham Lee on the pedal steel guitar, the Unknown Tuvan Shepherd on throat singing and the Reverend Doctor Wade on spiritual guidance," according to Cauty and Drummond's website.
This new work belongs to a five-part series called SAMPLECITY THRU TRANCENTRAL. The series kicked off on New Year's Day with the digital release of Solid State Logik 1, a compilation of classic KLF tracks from 1988 and 1991, the first time the duo's work has appeared on streaming platforms.
Three more releases (Kick Out The JAMs, Pure Trance Series and Moody Boys Selection) are in the pipeline. These will be streamed in no particular order "in an unknowable future," the website stated.
Last month, Cauty and Drummond revealed a new film about their quest to build a 23-feet-high pyramid with bricks made with human remains.
