  • A coalition of US venues has offered their spaces and logistical know-how in the effort to vaccinate 325 million-plus people in the United States. The letter, signed by NIVA, the industry group behind the recent Save Our Stages legislation, Live Nation, Coachella owners AEG Presents, the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees (IATSE) and the International Association of Venue Managers (IAVM), among others, directly addresses President Biden. "We represent businesses, workers and entertainers that make up the majority of the live event industry. While we have been effectively shuttered by the pandemic, we have vast resources that, if fully utilized, could provide invaluable mechanisms in our country's vaccine distribution," it reads. "Event venues make ideal community vaccination sites: they are located in most urban, suburban and rural communities, often near transit lines and with easy access to parking," the letter continues. "Our interiors are clear span with bright work lights and empty standard refrigeration systems. Due to the nature of our business, our buildings and workforce are accustomed to patron queuing and crowd management." Coachella operators Goldenvoice are currently in talks to set up a mass COVID-19 vaccination site in California's Riverside County, Pitchfork reports. Read the full letter to President Biden here.
