  • Fatima Al Qadiri and King Britt feature on a virtual panel called Music In Cinema as part of this year's Sundance Film Festival. Al Qadiri, who releases solo records through Hyperdub, scored the 2019 Cannes Grand Prix-winning film Atlantics—read RA's review of that soundtrack. King Britt's music featured in the 2006 film Miami Vice as well as the HBO television show True Blood. The Philadelphia native teaches computer music at the University of California San Diego and recently created a new course on people of colour in electronic music. The free event, a conversation on film scoring and music-making, is co-presented by BlackStar Film Festival and will be moderated by New Yorker staff writer Doreen St. Felix. It will take place on January 31st at 3 PM EST. Due to the pandemic, the 2020 edition of Sundance will be mostly online. To attend the panel, visit the official event page.
