  • Scuffed Recordings has announced an artist development initiative for women and non-binary artists. The programme will take place across six months, including production lessons from similarly identified producers India Jordan, LCY, Roza Terenzi and Elkka. Scuffed Recordings label contributors from the likes of Drum Thing, DJ Farsight and Nikki Nair will also offer mentorship, which will entail routine production feedback, advice on solidifying an artist bio and press pack, a subscription to Splice and a budget for equipment. Scuffed founders Ian DPM and High Class Filter said, "Over the three years we've been running the label, we've seen first-hand the huge gender disparity in producers working in electronic music, and our artist development program is our way of attempting to address this imbalance using the resources and industry knowledge available to us." The two recognize the lack of representation of non-cis men of color and trans artists within the music industry, and "particularly welcome" these groups to apply. The organizers also underlined their awareness of the vast non-binary identity spectrum. "By 'gender non-conforming,' we understand this to mean those [who] identify as non-binary, genderqueer, genderfluid, agender and other genders outside of the binary." Applications are scheduled to close on February 19th, 11:59 PM GMT. Apply and read more on the scheme here.
