  • Lovejoy will begin its new record label with an EP from Morgan Huggins, due February 26th. The Sydney party started up in 2018 and has since hosted headliners like DJ Masda, Yu Su, Tom Trago and Andy Garvey. After time away from promoting in 2020, the brand will now be venturing into the label business, kicking off with Huggins' Anzac Bridge Filter EP, the local artist's debut release. The EP will be available on vinyl and digitally, and it precedes further material from Huggins as well as a compilation focusing on Australian talent. The bulk of the record was produced in small town libraries across Australia's east coast in early 2020. "The bushfires were still very much burning," Huggins explains, "and everywhere you went you could taste the smoke and see freshly burnt houses, and yet everywhere I went people smiled at each other as they walked down the street. These songs were written with the hope of reminding people that life is beautiful when they forget, as so many other songs have done for me. If 'crying on the dancefloor' were a genre, I would pick that one." Listen to "Nan & Pop," a tribute to Huggins' rural-dwelling grandparents.
