  • Columbus, Ohio has a new internet radio station. Verge.fm, housed in an art gallery, aims to promote emerging artists from marginalised communities across the Midwest and beyond, according to its social media. It's especially concentrated on Black, LGBTQ+ and gender-nonconforming artists, among other minorities. Programming officially kicked off on January 15th and includes DJ mixes, podcasts, readings and discussions around topics such as music, experimental art and cultural writing. The station was partly modeled after NTS Radio, cofounders Nadia Ayad, Lu Bird and Reg Zehner (pictured here) told local news site Columbus Alive. An entirely independent venture, Verge.fm is currently crowdfunding to help pay for rent, equipment, software and support its featured artists. Visit Verge.fm for more details.
