  • KORG has announced a slew of new products ahead of the NAMM music expo. The ARP 2600M is a "desktop friendly" version of the giant semi-modular synth originally sold in the '70s and early '80s. The new version is 60% of the original size with the circuitry and spring reverb reworked to fit in the smaller space. It's out June 2021 for 1799€.
The miniKORG 700 from 1973 has also been remade for a limited edition reissue. It's based on the 700S version and was developed with original designer Fumio Mieda. It offers two oscillators, the classic Traveler filter and joystick controller, plus mod-cons like aftertouch and an arpeggiator. The release date isn't yet confirmed but it will cost €1999.
The modWave is a new 32-voice, two oscillator wavetable synth with a dozen stereo filter models. A Kaoss Pad-style modulation source "models a ball rolling on a surface and/or bouncing off walls," offering four modulation sources to route around the synth. A seven channel sequencer dubbed Motion Sequencing 2.0 has moduleatable loop points and probability for each individual channel, providing considerable depth for dynamic, evolving sequences. It will cost €799 but the release date is still TBA.
