  • Sef Kombo and Louie Dunmore are curating Sondela, a new Afro house label from Defected. The new outlet will showcase Afro-influenced music from emerging and established names. The first single, out February 5th, comes from Hyenah, a resident at Berlin's Afro house night RISE, in collaboration with Durban's DJ Tira and jazz singer Luke Ntombela. A second release, Native Tribe & TTAN's "Ancestor's Calling," is scheduled for March 5th. Proceeds from the Sondela releases will be donated to South African non-profit Bridges For Music, which helps local, disadvantaged communities and raises global awareness through music. "I've been really happy being part of Sondela," says Kombo. "I've always wanted to be a part of shining the light on the amazing talents from my home continent, bridging the worlds together to new listeners and also to release amazing future classic records. Even at this early stage in my A&R journey, I've learnt so much and so keen to learn more at Sondela." Listen to a preview of the first release, "Ezizweni," and revisit Sef Kombo's recent RA Exchange.
