  • At this year's CTM Festival, artists will be composing and performing fresh material using a music-making application called Apotome. The browser-based platform is described as a "generative music system" meant to aid the composition of microtonal music using notes and tunings outside traditional Western twelve-tone equal temperment. At CTM Festival, Deena Abdelwahed, Slikback and Indonesian producer Wahono will stream new works made in a single take using Apotome. The ten-day event also includes a live stream Apotome collaboration between Enyang Ha, Nene H, Tot Onyx, Tyler Friedman and Lucy Railton. Apotome, created by Iraqi-British musician, composer and researcher Khyam Allami in collaboration with creative studio Counterpoint, will debut at CTM on January 19th. The Berlin festival's 2021 edition explores the pandemic-inspired theme of ‘Transformation.’ Programming will stream online free of charge from January 19th to February 14th.
