  • Murcof has a new album out on UK label Leaf in the spring. The Mexican artist began work on The Alias Sessions, a collaboration with Brazilian choreographer Guilherme Botelho, in 2017. The music was produced in response to two performance pieces—Contre-Mondes and Normal—by the Geneva-based dance company Alias. "This material is a bit more abstract than my previous works, with plenty of non-tonal sounds that sometimes take centre stage," says Murcof. "I'm always looking for new unheard sounds. To create weird associations and contrasts between sounds of a different nature." Out April 9th on CD and vinyl, the LP rekindles a long-standing relationship with Leaf that stretches back to 2002. This is his first record on the Leeds outlet in 13 years. His last LP, a collaboration with French pianist Vanessa Wagner, landed on Infiné in 2016. Watch the video for "Underwater Lament."
