  • Space Park, a newly-minted outdoor venue in Miami created by Club Space and Bar Lab, opened earlier this week. Located in the Miami's Magic City Innovation District, Space Park features four small dance floors, as the Miami New Times reported this week. The NYE party, the publication noted, was able to accommodate up to 1,500 people—25 percent of the venue's total 6,000-person capacity. In compliance with Miami's ongoing curfew, the event ran from 6 PM until 1 AM. Club Space resident Ms. Mada, Ukranian duo Artbat and former NBA player Rony Seikaly played that night, with maasks and temperature checks will be in effect. "We are going to be connecting with the music," David Sinopoli, one of the Club Space owners, told the Miami New Times. "So know that even if you're 36 feet away from me, we're having a drink, we hear good music under trees, our longitude and latitude is fairly the same. But we want it to be clear: Yes, it's New Year's Eve. Artbat is playing, and it may look big, but it's not. It's only a quarter of the people." Going forward, Space Park won't just focus on big events but will also act as a community center for locals, Sinopoli said. Club Space itself reopened in October but its dance floor remains closed to enforce social distancing. As of December 30th, Miami-Dade County reported a daily increase of 2,748 coronavirus cases, according to NBC News. Watch a video of Space Park.
