NTS Radio will broadcast a conversation between Ryuichi Sakamoto and the late David Bowie on New Year's Day.
The chat originally took place on Japanese radio in 1983, the same year that the film Merry Christmas, Mr. Lawrence, which starred both artists, was released. Sakamoto's soundtrack became one of his most popular releases.
In a 2016 interview with FACT, Sakamoto described Bowie as a "very nice guy" and "very straightforward." Speaking to the Guardian two years later, he expressed regret that he didn't reconnect with Bowie when they were both living in New York.
