US vinyl sales have reached a record-breaking high for the second time this December, Billboard reports.
December 11th through December 17th, 1.445 million vinyl albums were sold—an unprecedented high for vinyl since Nielsen Music/MRC Data started tracking music sales in 1991. The industry hit a previous record the week of November 27th through December 3rd, bolstered by Record Store Day's Black Friday releases.
Vinyl album sales have been steadily exceeding one million sales within the last month, with 1.445 million sales last week, 1.253 million in the week ending December 3rd and 1.195 million throughout the week ending December 10th.
Prior to this month's success, the last time vinyl album sales broke one million sales was the week ending December 26th 2019, which saw 1.243 million vinyl LPs sold.
