Love Bang, a ten year-old crew of promoters, DJs and illustrators based in Shanghai, is now a record label.
Their first offering is a compilation of footwork, bass and other club sounds called Love Bang 001: Delivery 外卖外卖. Co-founder Heatwolves is featured on the album, as well as friends of the collective such as Swimful of SVBKVLT, Ceezy and Gouachi. A launch party took place at Shanghai club Elevator last week.
In the liner notes, Love Bang explained their motive for launching an imprint: "Parties are in our blood, but they only last one night. Music lasts as long as plastic delivery containers."
The crew first emerged on China's scene in 2010. In a blog post on their website, Love Bang recounted how Bicep was their first booking. Back then, the UK duo "slept on Heatwolves’ couch and two people came to their show in Beijing," the post said. Since then, Love Bang has organised several shows at venues around China.
