  • The digital edition of Uganda's Nyege Nyege Festival is launching tonight with a live set by Kampire. The opening ceremony, which kicks off at 6 PM GMT / 9 PM in Kampala, will be broadcast live via Resident Advisor's Facebook and YouTube channels, as well as Ugandan national TV station NBS LIVE. In addition to the stream, NBS will be showing a trailer for Nyege Nyege: An Irresistible Urge To Dance, a short film by the Mumbai-based agency WAVLNGTH. The partnership between Nyege Nyege and RA continues into the rest of the week with Instagram Live takeovers. On Friday December 4th, there will be interviews with Suzi Analogue, Nada El Shazly and Black Charles from 8 PM GMT, followed by a behind-the-scenes look at NBS Live on Saturday. The rest of this year's event, which spans four days, is vast in scope, featuring 96 hours of music from more than 350 artists from across Africa. There's also a film programme, fitness and cooking classes, puppet shows, dance perfornmances and a Haitian hypnotist, plus plenty more besides. Though Nyeye Nyege is free to attend, fans can support the effort either via optional memberships or by purchasing The Spirit Of 2020, a new, 40-track compilation featuring music by Duma, Gabber Modus Operandi, MC Yallah, Bampa Pana, Slikback and more. It'll be available via Bandcamp from Friday, December 4th. Watch Kampire perform live, and here's the trailer for Nyege Nyege: An Irresistible Urge To Dance.
