- Out on September 4th, the ten-track LP marks her debut as a vocalist.
Rui Ho's debut LP, Lov3 & L1ght, is coming out on Planet Mu this September.
Since her first release on Chinese imprint Genome 6.66Mbp back in 2016, Rui Ho has been cultivating a fusion between melodies from her homeland and the European club sounds surrounding her new home base of Berlin. Following her two EPs for Planet Mu sub-label Objects Limited, Lov3 & L1ght continues to explore themes of growth, particularly Rui Ho's experience as a trans woman, and incorporates elements of pop, club, rave, ambient, reggaeton and R&B, the label says.
The record, out September 4th, also serves as Ho's debut as a vocalist. "I have always been interested in singing," she says, "but my voice has been a huge obstacle for me since I always wanted a high-pitched female voice instead of a deep, low male voice. Vocal feminisation during my transition has been a huge inspiration, and it's a hidden theme of the album too."
