  • Björk has announced three shows in Reykjavík this August in association with Iceland Airwaves. The matinee concerts, scheduled for the 9th, 15th and 23rd, will take place at Harpa Hall with a live audience. Each show will be acoustic and feature different Icelandic musicians Björk has collaborated with over the years. Together, they will perform fresh versions of her songs. Highlights include conductor Þorgerður Ingólfsdóttir on the 9th, the string section from the Iceland Symphony Orchestra on the 15th and two harpists, Katie Buckley and Jónas Sen, on the 23rd. The shows, which will also be live-streamed, will raise money for Kvennaathvarfið, a shelter for women and immigrants based in Reykjavík. Björk posted a note saying the concerts are "to honour folks who got hit hardest in the coronavirus and the Black Lives Matter movement." Find out more here. As of June 15th, visitors to Iceland from the EU and Schengen states must either be swabbed for COVID-19 at the airport or enter into 14-day quarantine. (If the test comes back positive, you must also quarantine.) On July 1st, this will be extended to the rest of the world, though visitors will have to pay extra for the test. Bars, restaurants and tourist attractions are currently open.
